Lime kiln is the key equipment for calcining limestone to produce lime. According to different classification standards, there are many types of lime kiln.
By fuel type, it can be divided into mixed combustion kiln and gas combustion kiln. The mixed combustion kiln mainly uses solid fuels, such as coal, coke, etc. The fuels and limestones are mixed and loaded into the kiln, and the heat generated by combustion decomposes the limestones. This kind of kiln has simple structure and small investment, but the fuel combustion efficiency is relatively low, and it has a certain pollution to the environment. Gas combustion kiln uses gas fuel, such as natural gas, coke oven gas, etc. Gas fuel is injected into the kiln through burner for combustion. Gas fired kiln has the advantages of high combustion efficiency, accurate temperature control and less pollutant emission, but the operation cost is relatively high.
Classified according to the kiln structure, the common types are shaft kiln, rotary kiln, etc. Shaft kiln is a kind of vertical kiln. Limestone is added from the top of the kiln. Fuel is burned in the kiln. Calcined lime is discharged from the bottom of the kiln. The shaft kiln has small floor area and low construction cost, which is suitable for small and medium-sized production. The rotary kiln is a horizontal cylindrical kiln, in which the materials roll continuously with the rotation of the kiln body, fully contact with the hot gas flow, calcine evenly, and the product quality is stable, which is suitable for large-scale continuous production.
