Size requirements for calcined limestone blocks in lime kiln
During the calcination process of lime kiln, the limestone block size is very important to the calcination effect. Generally, the limestone block size is 40-80mm. However, different types of kilns have different limestone block sizes.
Lime shaft kilns are generally suitable for calcining 40 - 80mm limestone. This size range can maintain good air permeability and uniform calcination environment of limestone in the shaft kiln, ensure full contact between limestone and high temperature air flow, complete the conversion of calcium carbonate to calcium oxide, and produce qualified limestone.
Rotary kiln can calcine 20 - 60mm limestone. The unique rotary motion mode of the rotary kiln enables the limestone with small particle size to roll more quickly and fully in the kiln, fully contact with high temperature gas and realize efficient calcination. Smaller limestone blocks can quickly complete the heat and mass transfer process in the rotary kiln, so as to ensure the uniformity of calcination and the quality of lime.
If the stones are too large, the calcination will be insufficient and the time will be extended; Too small stones are easy to block the kiln and affect the airflow. Therefore, selecting the appropriate limestone block size according to the type of kiln is the key to ensure the output and quality of lime.
